Custom Engineering
Things that don't fit a vendor template. Built per-project, fixed price, production-ready.
Real client problem this solves
A Polish industrial company supplies components to automotive OEMs. Quality compliance requires tracking every batch across 12 production stages. Their Excel-based system breaks at 50k batches per year — current volume is 80k. The production manager spends six hours a week reconciling spreadsheets. Audit failures create 50–100k PLN penalty risk.
The real problem: Excel cannot handle the scale. An off-the-shelf MES (Manufacturing Execution System) costs 400k+ for licenses they will only use 20% of. Internal IT cannot prioritize because everyone has urgent things.
Our approach: a custom production-tracking tool fitted to the specific 12 stages. It integrates with existing barcode scanners. Web dashboard for managers, mobile-friendly for floor operators. 8-week pilot. Replaces Excel entirely. Excel migration tooling included.
When custom makes sense
What we have built before
Tech stack flexibility
Default stack is Python + FastAPI + PostgreSQL on EU infrastructure. We deviate when the problem demands it: TypeScript for browser-heavy work, REST or GraphQL where each fits, message queues when latency is the constraint.
We don't pick the trendy stack. We pick what we can still operate at week 52.
Engagement structure
Why not WordPress, Webflow or off-the-shelf SaaS?
WordPress and Webflow are right for content sites — marketing pages, blogs, simple e-commerce. They are not built for operational tooling that talks to barcode scanners, has multi-stage workflows or integrates with your ERP.
Off-the-shelf SaaS (Monday, Notion, Airtable) often gets you 70% there fast. The last 30% — the part that actually defines your operation — is where teams quietly burn out. Workarounds turn into shadow processes that nobody owns.
Pick a low-code tool when the workflow is generic. Pick custom when the workflow is the operation.
Engagement process for custom work
Scope-dependent. Typical pilot is 6–12 weeks. Fixed price.
